UCAN Caring Artfully Exhibition

While walking through Petria's Place Healing Garden take a moment and look at our youth’s artwork. Their work will be placed throughout the garden near the back fence and around our picnic tables. Each quarter or every fiscal year UCAN will swap out the artwork to highlight each individual youth who has participated in an art class at UCAN Academy South, Grand, or in our Residential building. Let’s continue to celebrate our youth!

Sierra had earned the position as student apprentice. Loren was inspired by this very famous Chicago Mural located in Logan Square. The original artists, Victor Ving and Lisa Beggs had become famous creating similar paining throughout many metropolitan cities. What I like about Loren's painting of the CHICAGO mural is that she completely changed the design within the letters. Her original drawings are of images of things she sees as afflicting out city, such as drugs and gun violence. Loren interjected her own vision of the Chicago she knows.
